Frequently Asked Questions
Using BufferZone

Can BufferZone protect my privacy while ensuring against data theft?
Yes. BufferZone enables you to create unique folders, called Confidential Folders, on your hard disk. These folders are invisible to files and programs running in your BufferZone Virtual Machine, meaning that a virus, spyware or Trojan Horse running in your BufferZone Virtual Machine doesn’t even know that such a folder exists; therefore, it can never see or read any sensitive files that you keep in these unique folders.

What are the differences between the various BufferZone products?
‘BufferZone Free’ protects from vulnerabilities of single applications such as P2P file sharing programs, Web browsers, and Instant Messengers; BufferZone Pro protects your entire PC; and BufferZone Enterprise is designed especially for organizations, so that they can deploy BufferZone endpoints and then remotely manage them. See the Comparison Table for details.

Do I need special technical expertise to install and use BufferZone?
Not at all. BufferZone was designed for both expert and novice users; install and forget – no user security decisions and no signature updates.

Can I move files or programs running in the BufferZone outside of the BufferZone?
Yes. Simply right-click on a file or program, and select the option of either moving it out of the BufferZone or, alternatively, running it outside of the BufferZone.

Can I disable BufferZone?
Yes. To disable BufferZone, right-click on the BufferZone taskbar icon, and then click Disable Protection. To reactivate BufferZone, right-click on its taskbar icon, and then click Enable Protection.

What kind of malware does BufferZone protect against?
BufferZone protects against all known and even unknown viruses, Trojan Horses, worms, batch files, scripts, and macro viruses.

Can BufferZone protect files and programs belonging to several users on a single PC?
Yes.

What is the red border that I see around e-mail attachments and other downloads?
The red border indicates that these programs or file icons are protected, since they are running in the BufferZone virtual machine.
